What causes my computers to lag?

Sometimes when I play video games on my laptop and computer, they lag. I don't run any other programs and I don't have any viruses. I have all the requirements to play the game and I disable my firewall. There's more than enough free space on each computer and I haven't downloaded anything lately and I have DSL which isn't as good as RoadRunner, but it's fast enough.

Another time, neither of my computers lag, but when I play against my cousin, it gets so laggy, that we both turned invisble in the game. Everything's been fine for the past 2 months. Do I need to port-forward my router or get better internet?

What causes my computers to lag?download

So if playing the games locally, it doesn't lag, but the online play does, it has something to do with the Internet connection.

Are you using a wireless connection on the notebook to connect to your router? If so, try switching it to a direct wired connection.

I've seen performance gains from that alone.

If wireless, you might have been picking up interference from other wireless networks, or devices.

What causes my computers to lag?hijackthis

Broadband is usually faster. Look into it.
go to microsoft under downloads, get "spy bot search and destroy" follow the prompts, defrag your computer to,then delete anything your nt currently useing

should fix the problem
Do you mean lag as in choppy movements, and slow cursor movements?

Or do you mean long delays between results whenever you perform an action?

If the first, then you probably need some better hardware.

If the second, then you probably need some better internet. If you have a program that sucks up your bandwidth (like torrents), then exit it.

Perhaps defragment your computer occasionally.
too much services starting up

viruses

rootkits

trojans

need defragment

Can one printer serve 3 computers?

I have 3 computers connected to the same wireless server to access the internet. Only 1 computer has a printer. If I "network" the computers, will one printer serve all 3 computers?

Can one printer serve 3 computers?downloads

obviously ,yes.simply connect the 3 computers using "Lan" , install the software on all the 3 coms.connect the printer to any of them and then from its properties in the control panel enable the "shared printer" option.

Can one printer serve 3 computers?house call

Yes, as long as you have a 3 hooked up to the same wirless net work. I have 3 that use the same one.
Yes of course

All you need is to share your printer in this way :

To share your printer

Open Printers and Faxes.

Right-click the printer you want to share, and then click Sharing.

The options you see on the Sharing tab differ depending on whether sharing is enabled on your computer. For instructions on what to do next, click the option that describes what you see on the Sharing tab.
yes, you can access the printer from all 3 computers. For this you have to install printer to one of the computer and physically connect to that. After installing and connecting printer, simply use drag-drop feature to connect printer to other computers.
Yes you can just install the software on all the computers
Simply put yes. We have dozens of computers at my work that do print using one printer
Yes . that's very easy .At first you must creat network with your computer.then share your printer on your pc,then on the two another pc brows that pc which connect to the printer.you can see the printer in share file .then wirth klick on the printer and then select connect to printer.Ok now you can send a print to the printer via server computer.Have fun
Yes one printer can serve the three printer but you have to share the other printer to the one that the printer is install.

thanks
It certainly will. All you have to do is right click on the printer and in the share tab click the share this printer. Give it a name. That's it.
yes, it's possible.

just right click on printer icon, click on sharing

then you can find from the other computer by click on search printer or computer

Can computers replace peolpe?what do you think?

i belive that in many fields of work computers have successfully taken initial steps in replacing people. if we don't watch technology advances closely, computers will be victorious in their path to world domination.

Can computers replace peolpe?what do you think?ducati

It is dominating but i dont think it will reach a point where it would completely replace people.

Can computers replace peolpe?what do you think?hp

i don't think so...since man is the end user of technologies...unless someone develops a humanoid... hehehe....

computers were developed by man and i don't think they will work without us...

your giving me an idea what to develop after my studies...hehehe
Nope, computers can't replace people. Computers are built to do things differently and react to the world in a much different way.

Besides, try to "unplug" a human being, what happens? And who wins wars, not computers, that's for sure. Why is religion so important? (does a computer care?). Why do emotions mean so much when we try to understand people? Would a computer care if you were angry enough to buy a sledgehammer and smash it?
Computers have already taken over the world. Not in a science fiction way,but we depend on them so much now.Everything is ran by a computer in some way.Scientist are trying to create a computer with artificial intelligence. That would be a big mistake. If the computers ever compute that they don't need humans, the dominant may become the dominated.
in a way we are dominated by computers and machines . look closely around you ,humanity are being digitalized . everything about us is stored in computers ( social security numbers , id and so on ) . our identity is lost . computer domination is happening but not like movies ( robots or artificial intelligence
What are you talking about initial steps. Manufacturers have already replaced many positions that used to be held by people with computers. The main concern is not computers taking over the world, but human error that causes a computer to set off every nuclear warhead known to man. You should watch the movie wargames. : )

Desktop computers....?

Do most recent computers have a dvd hard drive?

i am getting a computer with windows vista and i was wondering would that have a dvdv drive?

Desktop computers....?firewall

If you mean can they read CD and DVD's then yes...most also can burn DVD's as well.....Vista is the operating system and comes with media centre and other programmes which allow you to copy DVD's, burn CD's etc....

Desktop computers....?husqvarna

it will if you ordered it with 1 but nowhere is it written in concrete that all new computers come with a dvd rom. if it's running vista it will at least have a dvd rom since vista comes on a dvd it's to bloated to fit on a cd.
Yes, computers now a days come with a DVD-RW drive (a.k.a a drive that you can watch DVD's on).

However, sometimes you need a decoder to watch DVD's on your computer.

For this, get Cyberlink PowerDVD Trial. You get 30 days, and after the trial, the decoder still is in your pc so you can watch DVD's with it.
i think you got a bit confused the hard disk the is the device that stores data. Most PCs now a days do come with a CD/DVD drive but just check when you buy it.
there is no such thing as a dvd hard drive, it will have a dvd drive yes. also it will be a dvdrw.
All new PC's nowadays have a DVD read/write drive in them. Even the cheap ones. If they didn't, they most likely wouldn't even sell!
yep current technology is dual layer. fastest practical (usable) speed is 16x dvd. You can get 18x but as far as I know its not actually possible to burn at that speed. yet.

I have 3 computers, 2 of them are on MSHOME and 1 is on WORKGROUP?

As the titles says. the problem is that when i go into my networks and view computers near me it only shows the MSHOME computers. how do i see the WORKGROUP computers?

I have 3 computers, 2 of them are on MSHOME and 1 is on WORKGROUP?free adware remover

to get them all in the same workgroup, go control panel/system/network identification/properties, click on it, a box will pop just name your workgroup pc to mshome, then reboot the pc. once youve rebooted they should all see each other, dont forget to enable file/print sharing, if you want to share files etc, also make sure the above isnt ticked in the firewall otherwise you wont see anything. later dude

I have 3 computers, 2 of them are on MSHOME and 1 is on WORKGROUP?internet security 2006

All computers that you want to network must be in the same workgroup for them to be able to see each other.

I believe MSHOME is the default name given by the Windows Home Networking Setup wizard to name your workgroup.

I think WORKGROUP is the default workgroup name given by Windows XP.

Basically, all three computers must have the same workgroup name to be able to see each other.

So you could change the computer that is in the "WORKGROUP" workgroup to the "MSHOME" workgroup then they will all match and all 3 computers will be able to 'see' each other.

Why do two computers with the same IP address appear on my network?

I am running McAfee security center. There is a network manager that lets you see what computers are using your wireless network. When I look at mine, I see my named computer with it's IP address, but there is also an unnamed computer on the network that has the same IP address. My laptop and iPod touch should be the only two devices on the network. Should I be worried about this?

Why do two computers with the same IP address appear on my network?free anti virus

Have you tried to access it? It sounds like you may have someone leeching your wireless connection, and they may also be able to access your computer as well. Do everything that you can to block or remove this computer..

Why do two computers with the same IP address appear on my network?internet security software

Possibly, you can also reboot your router and reestablish your connections. There should be a teeny little button on the bottom of your router somewhere. Just hold it for I think 30 seconds, it will reboot itself. My router does anyway, it may be similar.

2 computers to 1 modem?

i have 2 computers connected to 1 cable modem, 1 PC connected by USB and the 2nd by ethernet.

my question is, how can i share files on this computers?

is it possible to send any king of files from one pc to other?

if yes, how!?

thanks for help!

2 computers to 1 modem?free antivirus download

You would need to fit a router to the LAN port, and both computers to the router to obtain networking.

2 computers to 1 modem?internet security

Does your setup for Internet sharing works well with both USB and Ethernet? If yes, well, it is the first time I see that. I don't know what is your modem model and if your ISP permit to have two different IP addresses. Anyway, the best and most secure method to share files between your two PCs and get at the same time Internet on both, is to share with a router. There is some inexpensive wired-only routers in many stores. Follow routers instructions and you should be in business to share Internet. Thereafter, for files sharing, that's more a Windows story! You will get your two PCs on the same network so to be able to share files, setup basic files sharing in Windows.
Just get a crossover cable, connect it to both pcs, manually set them ips 192.168.0.1/2 and the same subnets e.g. 255.255.255.0 and then enable file sharing, and put them both on the same domain. No need to buy a router. Ask more questions if needed :)
