How do I put two computers on one ethernet cable?

I have a 4-port router/switch that has 3 computers attached with ethernet wire. One more computer gets its network from the wireless. It is near one of the other 3 computers but at least 50 feet from the router. I would rather not run another 50-foot wire parallel to the existing one.

Can I use another switch at the end of the 50-foot wire to serve 2 computers?

yes, I'm doing exactly that at home.
Why not just get a wireless card ($20) for the other computer. Wireless range is typically 300 meters
You could purchase a PCI-ethernet card that you could install onto your computer, connect the ethernet cable (directly connecting your laptop to your other computer) so that it could access the internet through it.

You could connect a swtich to a router. It would also make the the network more securely.
