I just recently (a week ago) applied on the target computers and went through my first and second interview. It has been a week and I havent gotten a call or anything. Should I contact the store? Should I just wait, or should I go to the store and ask if my application has been processed? I'm a little new to the whole system so, I don't know how this works.

My friend just had an interview at target and they offered her the job on the spot. That might just be a thing for this store though. You should ALWAYS call to follow up on an interview. I would usually only give it a few day. You should definitely call and just say: "I applied for a job and had a couple interviews, I was just wondering if the position had been filled."

Mark the folder as shared, right click on it and you sohuld have sharing info there. you may have to move the folder to your my documents folder. From the other computer you can go to my network and you sould be able to browse the opposite computers shared folders. This is all assuming of course that you have a network setup.

if they are both the same system, you can network them or get a cross over cable and use the network wizard. or put everything on an external drive, an any computer can get the data.

Dataviz Documents to Go Synchronization with Multiple Computers?

I'm trying to use Dataviz's Documents to Go to keep my Excel/Word/etc. files synchronized between multiple computers, but it is not working for me, so I'm wondering what I 'm doing wrong. I've looked on the web and at Dataviz's website, but can't solve it.

I set up my home computer's files to synch with my Palm Treo through Docs to Go, and it works fine. I then put Docs to Go on my laptop, and tried to sync with the Treo. It seems to sync, but when I look into it I'm having several problems:

- I have the files in subdirectories under my C:\ drive, not in the My Documents area. However, Docs to Go keeps trying to put the sync'd files back under My Documents, and doesn't update the ones under the C:\ drive

- when I make file changes, it doesn't seem to keep all the files the same (between the desktop, laptop, and Palm)

Can I use c:\ subdirectories? Can I make changes on any one of the machines and sync to all the rest? Docs to Go talks about "file translation"- what is that?

Your options:

1. If you have a secondary drive (e.g. D), then you can transfer all your important data to that drive. When a computer is formatted, only the drive containing the operating system is emptied (usually C).

2. If you have a CD/DVD burner, any kind of external hard drive, you can backup your data there.

3. Use tools like Mozy.com to make backups online.

If you have a CD/DVD Burner, it will help. If you have only one drive in your system, Then you need to back everything into Cd/DVDs or else, if you have secondary drives on your system, you can back it up to your other drives. For example the c: drive is the OS drive. if you have d: or e: you can backup your data to that drive alone and reinstall the OS on the C: drive alone. You need to format the c: drive and re-install the OS.
well, since you don't have much money, get a friend who has like an 80 gig ipod and put all you're info onto their ipod. Since you don't have the money for a flash drive, ask someone who may have like an external cd/dvd burner... a dvd burner would be better because it holds close to 4.7 gigs of info... only thing is since you have a windows vista, your computer should have it's own personal dvd cd burner. so get some discs and start burning everything you want saved. once you have everything saved, your computer should come with a re-installation cd for new computers only... that cd will bring your computer back to it's factory settings.. put the cd in the cd drive and restart your computer, once it restarts it'll check all the drives and it'll continue with the cd installation. Just follow the directions and make sure you do a full format instead of a quick one. Everything after that you should be able to follow directions.

My brother is addicted also. The games are built that way. I don't think that is an addiction to the "computer" though. Most often it is also their socializing tool. If he plays online with other gamers you will find that that has become his social circle and in order to be with his "friends" he must be logged onto his game. How much time do you spend with your friends, on the phone and in person? Compare this to the time your brother is online with his friends. My brother doesn't have friends in our town, but he socializes with residents of Australia, Germany, Canada and many others. He has received proposals of marriage over his games. They are a very tight group and the upside is they don't meddle in your day to day affairs. "Friends with benefits" for unsociable types so to speak!!

You can get from $50 to $500 for a used computer depending on these factors. cant hurt to call pawn shops and ask but I doubt they will give you much for them. You have to remember that you can buy a brand new PC for little more than a couple hundred dollars. At that price why buy a pawned one when you can buy a brand new one that is probably faster than the pawned one.

But like I said the best one that could answer that is the actual pawn broker. Call a couple of them in your area and see what they say.

You won't get much pawning a PC. If you buy a PC for $1500 and try to pawn it 6 months later you will probably get $300 for it then the pawn shop you sold it to will sell it for around $600.

Even if you sell the PC to someone you know or a person and not a pawn-mart you will be lucky to get any more then 300 etc the only reason the pawn-mart can perhaps get more then you if because hundreds and hundreds of people will walk past it and someone will get suckered.

reading the other comments that would all depend on what the use would be i am in the mind of using linux but the general person wouldnt know where to start with it so in that context i would weigh up the cost elements inculing staff traing for new OS's (ie linux) with the cost of paying Mircosoft for XP or vista that ost of these staff would have already used and have at home. thus i would go witht the Mircosoft option because of software availablity, staff ability's and cost.

I grew in a small town where technology is still not all 100% current. Before internet I used to meet people on the magazines鈥?posts and write letters to them all over the Country. No more talking, no more surprise visiting and no more patience in waiting for anything. I am very thankful to grow up in this small town which I still keep some of the tradition I miss. It would be nice if we would try at least once to really go out and talk to people, say good morning and not be afraid. However, I am 12 hours far away from my home town and the technology helps me keep in touch with the loved ones. It鈥檚 nice that actually I can talk to them, see them and listen to them. The easiest way could be buying one 8-port hub (Dlink or 3com) and 6Xcat-5 net cables, then you should connect all PCs to HUB and Printer to one of the computers.

Then you have to define a workgroup between all computers, you should leave the computer connected to printer on everytime you want to use it by network (from other computers)

USING computers, and doing low level tech support ect... can be done by training at what South Africa calls Technicons. They are like colleges which do short practical courses.

I'm looking for a dell computer to buy. I've seen online that there is the inspiron 530 and the inspiron 530s. The inspiron 530s appears to have a slimer design so its more compact. However, based on the components in the computer, it is significantly cheaper than the inspiron 530. Is there another difference i should have noted? In my opinion it may not have the room you need for adding peripherals later down the line. The video card is part of the motherboard, and it uses a proprietary power supply, as well as leaving room for half height cards only.

you have a total of four computers, which you want to connect so each one can "talk" to each other?

you need a wireless switch; you plug in the two networked ones to the switch, the others will connect wireless to the switch.

usually, the switch would support "DHCP" (kind of plug%26play) - simply set the network settings to something like "attain automagically". If the switch doesn't support DHCP, you will have to set the IP addresses manually. Each computer requires a unique IP address formed like: 192.168.100.x and a subnet mask like 255.255.255.0.

The subnet mask will be the same on all four computers, the ip address will change in the last digit, like 192.168.100.1, 192.168.100.2, 192.168.100.3 and 192.168.100.4 (again, the subnet mask remains the same).

Try this out with the wired computers, and see, if they can "see" each other. (select start, run, type in cmd, a black command line window opens, then enter "ping 192.168.100.1" (or .2 or .3 or .4) and see what happens. If the answer is something like "timed out" you have a problem, if the answer is number you are set :))

I just hooked up two computers to my DSL modem via a network router. I then set up the home network in Win XP on both computers and restarted both. The only way i can get on the internet is if I unplug one computer from the network router - no IP conflict that way and the internet works fine with just the one computer. Well I hate to say this but YOU NEED A ROUTER, the SD205 is just a five port switch and has no routing ability so it will not work to do what you need.

A router will supply seperate IP addresses for all computers on the inside system and will connect them to the Internet using the ONE IP that you have.

A switch will just connect all computers together and attempt to get an IP from your ISP -- which just supplies ONE IP thus all the conflict problems.

I`m not sure I agree with the statement.

But, some arguements could be:

People get more isolated, loose contact with real life people.

Most people need this contact to live.

Why not just pull the bad power supply out of the new computer and put the power supply from the old computer in place of it?

If the old p.s. is less than 350 watts, I would just buy a new power supply and put it in the computer.

Before you pull out the bad p.s., note where all the wires from it connect to the motherboard and components, then simply hook up the good power supply in the same manner. Most of the connectors are keyed. The only tricky one is the connection to the floppy drive [if you have one], be very careful to note how it is connected. If you reverse the connection [which is possible] you can ruin either the floppy drive or the mobo connector.

I would not do this. I would buy a new power supply for your new computer. You can get a new power supply at www.newegg.com. If you are unsure of how to change a power supply, you should take your new power supply and your new computer to a computer place that will change it for you.
