How to connect our computers?

We have more than one computer at our home and wonder whether we can connect them to share files and resources?

If we can connect as "Remote Computers" with other computer, it would be awesome as we can even share software programs.

Is there any way to do it without burning much $$$?

Try getting wireless adapters. I don't know how to use a wireless router to share files, but if you use Ad-Hoc (computer to computer) you can go to My Network Places and go into the other computer's shared files

just get a router and run the network wizard on each of them ..
if you have a router (most dsl/broadband modems work this way) and if all computers are connected to the internet through the router, then you already have a local network. Just configure all computers with the same workgroup name (under network settings in control panel), and they should see each other.

otherwise, just equip all computers with an ethernet card (if they dont have one already), and buy a basic hub. (if you have a router/modem for internet, that does the job)
