I have Windows XP in all computers, all have ethernet cards, and my main computer is connected to internet via a cable modem that runs from the ethernet card to the modem that runs to the cable system plug therefore my cable interfaces, ethernet麓s and modem麓s are linked and ocupied by present cable. I do not have a hub. I do have a Router with 4/ 5 ethernet links for in/out, however I do not want to restablish whole connection again. Can I connext the Router to the modem and main computer maintaining my connection configuration or do I have to reconfigure all again. What about an ethernet cable link hub, are they very expensive? Is it possible to set up a home network via an USB hub to connect the other computers to my main computer wich is already connected to internet? How can I add my router with the other 3 PCs linked without losing/changing my connection? Can I do it? How? If not, do you have any suggestions?
Is it possible to create home network (4 computers) with only one modem?norton internet security 2008
yes it is. just plug the ethernet cable coming from the modem to the main port in the router. Then Plug in Main computer and any other computer into the router. Should connect to the internet just the same with no problems. If you have all three computers on internet at same time can loose some speed but should not be to bad. Should not have to configure with any setting too. good luck. hope that helps
