well i wud not recommend reformatting of the disk drive as that should only be the last option. try usind anti spywares at least three of them to clean up the mess ... then run an anti-virus program, then u'll also have to clean up the registry...if u reformat the hard disk (if u are using windows) then unless u have a windows cd... reinstallation of the os is going to be a pain ...(not so if u are using a pirated version) well if in any case u still want to reformat it (which is not very healthy in case of magnetic disks... u should refrain from reformatting them as the problems might reappear with the next installation) then u'll first need to have a bootable OS cd or need to create a bootable disk... then u may boot up the comp with the disk inside and reformat or repartition the disks as u want ... using the format command and the fdisk command
Insert your Operating System CD (Or a BOOTDISK)

Follow the instructions on how to format the drives.

Or via DOS (Bootdisk ONLY):

Del *.*

Y
You can use the operating system Cd

Or any kind of a bootabale cd

like windows (98, 2000, NT, XP, XP media centre edition)

Or Like macintosh.
