Specs Of computers?

Okay I don't know much about computers, so if you have time on your hands and would like to help i'd really appreciate it.. i need to know answers for the fallowing questions.. thank you in adavance for a good answer in reply..

1) Whats a processor, and how do you know which one is good for gaming and that sort of stuff? How do you know which one is good in general? like for example AMD AthlonTM 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor 5200+.

2) what the difference between the slots PCI and the others.. and could you tell me names of others?

**3)Most important question.. I understand what a graphic card is, but how do you know which one is good? what nvidia geforece, and inter core duo processor and all that, I don't understand that.. i am looking for a good one for gaming..

I asked this cause i went and looked for computers in stores and couldnt understand anything under specs.. i am not a serious gamer, but i do want to play some games here and there.. please help me

The processor or CPU is the brains of the outfit. The faster the better (measured in megaHertz).

You can put other cards in PCI slots like TV or modem or sound cards. Other slots is PCIExpress for video cards (also AGP -older)

A good rule of thumb for gaming is to put the best in you can afford. Gaming requires a higher amount of processing so the better and faster the graphics card the faster the game can run because the CPU has a lot of work taken off it's little shoulders.
