I have read that you need two copies of Vista if you have two computers. I have a desk top and a laptop computer. What will happen if I load the same copy on both? Are the men from Microsoft going to come and have a word? Or will I not be allowed to register one of the computers? If that's the case, What difficulties could that computer develop? No updates etc..?

well, one of you computers will be legal, and you will be allowed to register it, but the other one will be recognized with an illegal vista key, and most of the updates will be held off from your computer.

Well you must register the copy of Vista but copying it on another computer may be ok as longs the computer is in the same house, i think you should contact Microsoft first because each computer while connecting to the Internet has its own Identfication number it may work for a while or you may get a alerts saying you are using a copied vista or llegeal copy of windows its up to you, you may not get any down loads after a while just ask a question first there no harm in asking once i had a copy of Mcaffee i use on one computer the other computer was on a net work they said yes i could use the same licence as long it doesn't leave the house but i asked the question play safe always because of copyright laws
the little men in white microsoft coats with microsoft handcuffs will be knocking at your door. (or send you a email) asking you to buy a legal copy to go on both computers, i not they will deactiate you copy of vista.
The licensing of Vista is the same as XP, 1 copy and 1 licence per computer. Microsoft is very clever with the licence and I am not sure that you will be able to register twice.
If the key is rejected I am not sure what will happen but for sure you will not receive any updates.
I don't think MS stops you installing the same OP on multiple PCs. The problem it will cause will be unacceptable. Users usually build their own pc and change hardwar occasionally. The PC may be damaged and need to be changed. harddisk fails and OS needs to be reinstalled, and many other similar reasons. There may be a problem if the user tries to register the same OP under a different personal information. I am not sure. That could make more sense.
