Why do computers make that annoying, constant clicking noise?

What makes computers make that sound when your computer is laggy or loading something?

when it's busy it could be the read write heads in the hard drive. This is normal. I think I remember my older computer sounding more like a tick but if my new one was making a ticking noise I'd be worried. It's much quieter.I don't know what you would call it maybe a very distant almost undetectable ticking. Make sure your cooling fan isn't making the noise.
That is simply the read/write portion of the hard drive working. That arm goes back and forth. When you have your hard drive optimized, the read/write arm doesn't have to work as hard. Have you defraged your hard drive lately??
That clicking sound shouldn't be ur hard drive. If it is then you have some trouble. Most likely, that clicking and popping sound is the processor processing information. I do'nt know the technicallity of it, but it's just the transistors in the CPU opening and closing certain gates and sending in signals and stuff that cause the sound.
