Connecting 2 computers to 1 printer through wired router?

i have 2 computers..one is a dell and has a dell printer which is upstairs. the other one is a gateway 2000 and is downstairs and both are connected through a wired router so they both have internet. the upstairs computer is directly connected to the printer and i want the downstairs one to be connected to that printer too. i went to Settings on the Window Start menu, then Printers, and then i double-clicked on Add Printer. but then a box came up saying i needed to type the network path or queue name of the printer. where do i find this path or name? i clicked "browse" and my only choice was My Network Places %26gt; Entire Network %26gt; My Web Sites on MSN. non of them worked when i clicked on them. please help (:

Buy a hub, it's like $10 connect the printer and the 2 computers to it and then you can use the printer using both the computers. but i think wireless is the new **** these days so you can buy 3 network adapters and connect all three devices to it have fun.

Get a multi port hub.
Have you checked that the printer is set to be a network shared printer on the machine that is physically connected to your printer. Once it s shared then any other machine on the network should see it under shared printers.
On the system with the printer, go to printer settings and select sharing and share as dellprn or whatever you want to name it. save the settings as a shared printer.

On the other system you type in the path the the printer

\\dell\dellprn (or whatever you named the computer and printer). So if different names \\computername\printername

save settings and install drivers and then use the printer.
