I have this question in school that says what are the suitable operating systems for mainframes, personal computers, minicomputers and workstations. the teacher asked us to search the internet. but i'm really confused, can anyone please tell me the suitable operating system for each? it's gonna help alot! :)

linux is good but winows xp is used eveerywheere so i would go with xp. im just gueessing heere.
just go to microsoft and they have a guides in their websites.
also linux.. Also search for "minicomputer os" in google and wikipedia history of computers. I can't do this for you because it is your homework.

reading the other comments that would all depend on what the use would be i am in the mind of using linux but the general person wouldnt know where to start with it so in that context i would weigh up the cost elements inculing staff traing for new OS's (ie linux) with the cost of paying Mircosoft for XP or vista that ost of these staff would have already used and have at home. thus i would go witht the Mircosoft option because of software availablity, staff ability's and cost.
