The computers that i want to access the particular computer to edit the shared resource or file are already members of the same network but i keep getting an error message saying something like the computer has reached the maximum number it can allow to access it.

If your computer is in the domain or workgroup. Then removee it from domain/workgroup. And then reinsert it to the domain/workgroup.
